DBN gets a brand new image
Over the years many businesses have felt unable to join DBN because they are not in the former Derwentside area. In fact, we have never excluded businesses from other parts of the region and are delighted to have members from as far afield as Hexham, Gateshead, Durham, Newcastle, Seaham, Stockton, Bishop Auckland and many others.
We were keen to rebrand as DBN to remove any perceived geographic restrictions on membership and several of our members have been working with us to create a new brand identity. While selection was difficult (because every idea had great merit) we chose our new branding from John Barkess at JJ&J Creative.
John explains how he created the new brand for DBN:
“DBN approached JJ&J with a brand which was inextricably tied to the area in which it was born. This was restrictive in moving forward both geographically and for wider business growth. We were tasked with a unique challenge of renaming and rebranding DBN under the same acronym for which it had become so affectionately known. JJ&J capitalised on the very reason for being of DBN which is ‘doing business together’. The resulting solution of ‘The Do Business Network’ perfectly encapsulates this and with its strong member focus and bright colour palette reflects the unique fun, friendliness and diversity of the network. We wanted to bring the community to the forefront of the brand and tell people about the members and what they do rather than solely what DBN does, after all the product is the wonderfully diverse community. As a result DBN are now very strongly repositioned and aligned with their future business strategy along with a very differentiated branded approach to their competitors.”
